by admin | July 22nd, 2009

Several Team Delphine riders competed at the Tour of the Bitterroot in Hamilton, MT on Sunday, July 19. The morning consisted of a criterium circling a six block area of downtown Hamilton, while the time trial was held during the hottest part of the afternoon, on a 17 mile out-and-back route with a 400′ elevation gain.

Laurie Shammel and Melanie Melendrez completed their first ever criterium at the Cat 4 level, learning a lot of hard lessons along the way. (Thank goodness for the crit clinic!) Mollie McKiernan joined them in the time trial, competing in her first race for Team Delphine, riding smooth and strong. Laurie finished 5th in the criterium and 3rd in the time trial, for a 3rd place finish overall.

Amy Frykman and Patricia Dowd competed in the Cat 1-2-3 field, Amy riding her first races as a Cat 2 and Patricia similarly as a Cat 3. Amy finished 4th in the criterium, and 1st in the time trial (with a blistering fast time, over 2 minutes ahead of the nearest competitor), for a 2nd place overall finish in the omnium.
